Dear Colleagues,
As you may know, the Office of Disability Issues recently launched for the Government a consultation into a cross government disability strategy. You can find out more about it here: http://odi.dwp.gov.uk/odi-projects/fulfilling-potential.php
The Government want their disability strategy to address all areas of disabled people’s lives like education, work, independent living, leisure and all of life’s events. The consultation particularly focuses on the ambitions of disabled people and how to make these ambitions a reality,
At Disability Rights UK we want to respond to the Government by drawing on the experiences and ideas of disabled students (and recent students!). Disability Rights UK will be launching a general survey which covers the broader areas of the consultation but we in the education team want to find out about disabled people’s experiences and opinions around:
We’re looking for disabled people who have experience of those areas in the last 5 years
We’d be really grateful if you could pass this information or email on to anyone who has been in education whether full time or part time in the last 5 years. We have developed a very short survey which covers the key areas listed above and asks for information on their experiences of education and also ideas of how things can be improved for disabled people in education after leaving school.
I know we often ask for your help and I can not tell you enough how much we appreciate the time you give up to tell us about your experiences and opinions or by passing information on to those who can help us like your students. We can not have a credible voice or fight for change with out your support. Please pas this information on to those who have experience of post 16 education. The survey should only take up to 10 minutes to complete. Here is the link:

The survey closes on Wednesday 22nd of February
Please pass this email on to anyone that you think may also be able to help us with the survey, as we don’t have a lot of time. They don’t have to have worked with Skill or Disability Rights UK in the past either. Please post a link through social networks if you like? You can use the link above in emails and as a hyperlink or if you want to embed a link in a website then please use: Click here to take survey
Thank you for your support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions or want more information.
Best wishes
Natalie
