Broadbent & Co was set up in 1996 by Steven and Elizabeth Broadbent. Steven Broadbent is the Centre Manager and Senior Assessor. He is a trained teacher and was employed by a local education authority for 22 years and has managed Broadbent & Co for a further 13 years. Steven has worked in the area of assessment of disabled students for over 25 years.
Elizabeth Broadbent was a Chartered Physiotherapist who worked in the NHS until 2002 and also in Social Services and Education with disabled people.
In January 2006 Broadbent & Co became a limited company Broadbent Assist Limited trading as Broadbent & Co. The company has been accredited by the DSA QAG regulatory body.
Broadbent & Co is currently undertaking approximately 900 assessments per year. We are developing outreach facilities in various Higher and Further Education Institutions. These include Liverpool John Moores University, Bolton University, Huddersfield University, Bournemouth University, Liverpool University, Edgehill University, Runshaw College, Wigan and Leigh College and Cumbria University. We also undertake home assessments where appropriate. Contact the centre for further details.
In addition to undertaking assessments in our own right in our centre, Broadbent & Co undertakes occasional assessments for NERAC at Sunderland University, JUNAC at Newcastle University, and Durham University.
We assess Open University students, mainly in their own home study environments.
In addition Broadbent & Co is involved with Work Fit Occupational Physiotherapy Services in Access to Work Assessments in the East Midlands.

Mission Statement
Broadbent and Co will provide in-depth advice and assessments for people with either a disability or a specific learning difficulty. Both the advice and the assessment reports will be clear and easy to follow. The reports will be written in a professional and unbiased way, to provide all the details needed by the official Funding Bodies.
We will build on current good practice, and try to improve the quality of the assessments and reports we provide, so that we continue to be regarded as a model of good practice in the field of professional assessment.
